Hybrid Airship AEROLYOT-01 Flight Tests Demonstrate Successful Hover

We continue flight testing of the experimental hybrid airship AEROLYOT-01. In the current phase, the focus is on the hover and station‑keeping mode. All systems performed correctly; the team completed data collection and is fine‑tuning control algorithms, recording the obtained parameters.
The hybrid design of AEROLYOT-01 combines buoyant lift from the envelope with aerodynamic lift from the hull. This combination expands the flight envelope but places higher demands on the control system. Our specialists are exercising various flight regimes, including long‑duration hover, to verify the reliability and accuracy of the control system. During the tests we evaluated the response to atmospheric condition changes and the proper operation of sensors and actuators. The results show stable performance of all subsystems under different loads. Gaining practical experience with the hybrid configuration opens new possibilities for further research.
The main prospect for the hybrid scheme is practical use in cargo logistics. The increased lift and maneuverability allow us to consider hybrid airships as commercial transport for new routes where conventional means may be limited.
